The main deity of this Lord Meghanatha Swami (Shiva).
His consort is Sri Lalithambigai. And the significance and importance is given to our Eternal Mother.
The Goddess sits on the Sri chakra with Abhaya Hastha Mudra.
The temple is constructed as per Vastu sastra. Daily Abhisheka, Archana and Pujas are done, as per Vedic Agamas.
This is the Kshetra where Sri Lalitha Sahasranamam, a Sanskrit hymn in praise of Mother describing her beauty in 1000 names, by Hayagriva to Sage Agastya and Sage Agastya also composed Lalitha Navarathnamala, here.
The Sthala Vruksham is Bilva tree.
RathaSapthami in the month of January and February is grandly celebrated.
Chanting Lalitha Sahasranama and Lalitha Navarathna Mala sitting in the Mother’s shrine are bestowed with all grace and prosperity in life.
This is the birth place of Garuda, Aruna the charioteer of Sun, Vali, Sugriva, Yama and Saneeswara.
Hence, people perform Ayush Homa and Mrutyunjaya Homa in this temple for longevity. They also offer Pirandai Rice nivedhana placed on a lotus leaf to Lord and have the prasadha for cure from diseases.
The temple is open from 7.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 4.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.
