Jaimini - Atmakaraka, Can Rahu be...
In Vedic astrology (Jaimini) some regard Rahu (North Node) as a Karaka (Atmakaraka, Darakaraka etc.) while others exclude it.
What if someone has Rahu as their Atmakaraka but takes the second highest degree as their AK. How do you reconcile the two?
It is not that there are two systems in Jamini which includes Rahu or not.
Jaimini sage himself, in his succinct verses has stated below.
आत्मादिकःकलादिभिर्न भोगः सप्तनामष्टानांव
AtmadikaH kalaadibir na bhogasspatanaamaShtanamva
So the confusion.
The sanskrit verse of Sage Jaimini, is itself terse and clear, at the same time not clear.
A riddle rather, but Sage is clear. Our understanding and previous commentators are not clear. More so Sanskrit knowledge was orally passed, so there could be errors.
But the sage clearly indicates, in his previous sutras, that katyapadi system applies to bhavas and not grahas.
With this clue, I assume, from above sutras, he means both 7 and 8 karakas as valid, but with a distinction, which is lost by tradition or the sanskrit grammar, to decide, which is not there with us now.
So I assume there should be a by-law, which should decide which karaka system to choose, which the verse is not indicating.
I would choose the 8 if Rahu attains the highest degree and becomes Atmakaraka.
For all other charts, I will ignore Rahu and go for 7 type system.
And I have a reason and intuition for this.
So be it, Tathaastu.
